How I Can Help YouAcademy NominationsEach member of Congress, either in the House of Representatives or the Senate, is allowed a total of five appointees in each service academy. For each vacancy, I am allowed to nominate ten individuals. Contact InformationMain and District Office Address' and Telephone Numbers as well as an online contact form. Business Opportunities with the Federal GovernmentInformation gateway, prepared by the Congressional Research Service for Members of Congress, provides guidance and online procurement procedures for doing business with the federal government. Federal Education Loans and GrantsThis Information Web page, prepared by the Congressional Research Service for Members of Congress, guides students through the process of locating and applying for financial aid. Flag RequestsIf you are a resident of Pennsylvania's 4th Congressional District, you may purchase a U.S. flag from the office of Rep. Jason Altmire. There is no limit on the number of flags you may order. You may also request that your new flag be flown over the Capitol. Flags may be flown for a particular person, event, or organization, and may be flown on a specific date. A certificate of recognition is included with each flag. Federal Grants And Funding AssistanceThere are thousands of federal grant programs that your organization might be eligible for and I am often asked about what is available. Following this link should answer some of your questions. Internship OpportunitiesThe office of Congressman Jason Altmire runs an internship program accepting college students interested in learning about the operations of a congressional office. In addition to general office support, interns assist the Congressman's staff with constituent services, Capitol tours, and light research. Interns are also encouraged to attend hearings, lectures, and seminars available in Congress and around the Hill. Page ProgramPages are high school juniors who are hired by the House of Representatives to live, work, and study in Washington, D.C. Congressman Altmire may nominate candidates to be in the program. Pages are employees of the House and their duties consist primarily of delivering correspondence, legislative material, and small packages within the Congressional complex. A few Pages are assigned to answer the phones in the Members' Cloakrooms, take messages for Members, call them to the phone if they are in the House Chamber, and prepare for House Floor sessions. Still others monitor a telephone bank of incoming requests for Page service.
